denton designs was the name I came up with for my identity as a fledgling freelance graphic designer. In truth I didn't get very far with it, mainly some portfolio projects and some web design, plus hours spent assisting my wife laying out and copy editing her corporate newsletter. But I always say no education is ever wasted. My design experience informs my photography and my website design, and we all know where my writing experience shows up. Now, I do have two photo covers of that newsletter to my credit. The signs had been there all along but I somehow didn't ever know that photography would end up being my arena.

first font

My first typeface, which I designed back when I was in grade school and spent many hours in my room drawing characters for a never-realized epic graphic novel. This was used as part of the many drawings related to the backstory.

Pulse magazine

Hermes (release 2) makes an appearance in an ad in Tower Records' Pulse magazine.

Seattle Times

Hermes (release 2) shows up on the cover of the Seattle Times the very weekend I'm visiting. I didn't buy a copy but I did take a photo of it, as I was out and about wandering the city with my K1000, building my photographic muscles. BTW they never gave paid the $5 shareware fee...

UCSD Logos

The logos I designed for UCSD's Housing & Dining department, black and white versions. They needed to be able to scale from print to large vinyl decals for the windows of the restaurants.
